- Under the repair section, hit Next.
- After that, go to Program and Maintenance and click Repair.
- Hit Next to proceed.
- Hit the Update button to start the repair process. Wait for the repair process to complete.
- Once done, repeat steps 2 to 7 with every program associated with Adobe Systems Inc.
- After all Adobe programs are repaired, restart your PC.
Solution #3: Update Adobe Acrobat Reader
As stated above, another cause of this error is an outdated Adobe Acrobat Reader version. If Adobe Acrobat cannot communicate with Adobe’s main server because it is outdated, then the error message may be thrown.
Normally, Adobe products can update themselves. However, there are times when their auto-update features become faulty to the point that they cannot update themselves.
Regardless of whether the app itself is outdated or it cannot update because of a glitch, update the Adobe product itself manually by following these steps:
- Launch Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and log in using your account.
- Access the Help menu by clicking the ribbon at the top-most part of the screen.
- Click Check for Updates.
- Wait as the program checks for an available update. If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to install the most recent Adobe Acrobat Reader version.
Solution #4: Run a complete malware scan
You may also consider the fact that you are dealing with a malware entity or an adware component. For this, you may use a trusted antivirus solution and run a complete malware scan.

Solution #5: Change the UsageCC permissions
It is possible that you are seeing this error message because of a permission issue with your UsageCC registry key. Follow these steps to change the permissions of your UsageCC registry key:
- Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run utility.
- Type regedit into the text field and press Enter. This will launch the Registry Editor utility. When prompted by the UAC, hit Yes to proceed.
- Navigate to this path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Adobe\CommonFiles\UsageCC.
- Right-click on UsageCC and select Permissions.
- Hit the Advanced button and click the Disable Inheritance button.
- Proceed by clicking OK.
- In the Properties wizard, choose System and click the Remove button.
- Hit Apply to save your changes and click OK to proceed.
- Restart your computer.
Solution #6: Uninstall then reinstall the software
If the above solutions did not work, try to uninstall and reinstall Adobe Acrobat to resolve the error. Here’s how:
- Press the Windows + R keys to launch the Run application.
- Input appwiz.cpl to launch the Programs and Features window.
- Locate the Adobe software and hit the Uninstall button.
- Download the latest Adobe software version from the official Adobe website. Take note that you may need to re-enter the product key to proceed with the installation.
