Remembering a lot of passwords for all the sites you frequent can be a hassle. It’s not like our brain was programmed to recall a hundred $471GDSGHBVSGS/s at the same time. It’s too much of a bother that you wish it was safe enough to have one password for everything. But for security purposes, you can’t. But with all the sites that ask for a strong combination of characters as your password, it is easy to forget which combo is for what website. This is where Dashlane comes in.

About Dashlane

Dashlane is a password manager that fills in not only your password but also fills in forms with your payment and personal information whenever you need them, across the web, and on any device you own. If you’re tired of repeatedly typing the same set of information every time the website you’re accessing asks for them, then Dashlane is the program for you. You can add different addresses, phone numbers, and any information that is very often required from you by websites.

How to Use Dashlane

Before we delve into how to use Dashlane, let’s get Dashlane first. Here’s how you can install it on your device.

Installation

  1. Go to dashlane.com. Click on Get Dashlane.
  2. Run the installation wizard.
  3. Once installed, create a new account. Enter your email address and create a master password. (Make sure to remember your master password because if you lose it, you will also lose access to the passwords restored on Dashlane.)
  4. Integrate Dashlane into your default browser. (It will automatically identify the internet application you are using.) Proceed by confirming to Add extension.

Getting Started with Dashlane: How to Use It

Once installed and integrated into your browser, you can start saving passwords to Dashlane. There are several ways on how to do it:

  1. Save your password as you go. Start browsing the web and log in on websites. Every time Dashlane detects new login credentials, a pop-up will appear asking for your permission to have Dashlane save your password. Click Save if yes and you won’t have to type the same password all over again every time you visit the same site.
  2. Import passwords from your browser or from a different password manager. Just go to Dashlane and from the menu bar, look for File, then select Import.
  3. Add passwords manually. Just open the application, then from the left-hand menu, look for Passwords and click on Add New. Fill in the needed details, then click OK to save the new password.

Once passwords have been saved, you can now start browsing the web with too much ease and without the hassle of typing in your code every time. Log in to websites in one click. You can also fill forms in one click. With your profiles stored on it, Dashlane will do the filling out of forms on your behalf. All you need to do is do a right-click and select the profile you want to use.

With programs like Dashlane, there’s one thing perhaps all users are worried about: security. But with Dashlane, you need not worry about your passwords or your payment information getting leaked online and into the hands of suspicious users because it is encrypted with AES-256 encryption and only you know the password to decrypt it.

Although often compared with LastPass and KeePass, Dashlane has been gaining rave reviews from online critics. PC World, for one, calls it “a robust password manager with a gorgeous interface.” PC World praises Dashlane’s easy installation process, its user-friendly interface, and its optional cloud syncing.

PC Mag also lists the program as one of their top picks when it comes to password managers. It rated it 5 stars for its secure password sharing, emergency contact feature, and automated password changing.

A Final Word

Although it has its lapses, Dashlane is a pretty good password manager, all things considered.
