Users who have Total System Care installed in their computers think that they have one beneficial tool at their disposal. However, the truth is they have a potentially unwanted program that doesn’t really help at all. The software has been developed to trick users into subscribing and paying for a license.

How Total System Care is Distributed?

Although Total System Care is available for download via its website, some users have acquired it through bundled downloads. This is a strategy that is commonly used for distributing potentially unwanted programs.

More often, the software is featured as a freeware installer, which is installed directly on a computer without the user even knowing.

What Total System Care Does

The real intent for creating Total System Care is to convince users to purchase a license to benefit from the features of the full version. To entice users into buying, it will do these things:

  • Scan your system.
  • Display notifications that your system has hundreds of errors.
  • Interfere with importance system processes.
  • Meddle with the internet connection.

How to Delete Total System Care

Does your computer have this potentially unwanted program? Here are a few ways to delete it:

Solution #1: Uninstall it and its related files from Windows

Regardless of whether you are running Windows XP, 7, 8, or 10, you can delete the Total System Care software from your computer.

Before you press that Delete button, know that dragging the program or the entire folder to the Recycle Bin is a bad idea. If you do so, some other files associated with the program could be left behind, causing more errors to show up.

Here’s the proper way to uninstall Total System Care from Windows:

  1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Into the text field, input appwiz.cpl and hit Enter.
  3. At this point, a new window will appear, showing all the installed programs on your PC. Select the Total System Care program and hit the Uninstall button next to it.
  4. Follow the instructions on your screen to successfully uninstall Total System Care from your device.

Solution #2: Remove any Total System Care component on your browser

Total System Care may install some of its components on your browser. To remove them, follow these steps:

  1. Open your favorite browser.
  2. Click on the menu and select Add-ons.
  3. Find any suspicious component or extension that is associated with Total System Care. Click on it and click Remove.
  4. Once removed, restart your browser.

Solution #3: Delete any registry associated with the software

Sometimes, Total System Care creates registries on your computer. Its most common targets are the following destination folders:

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

To access these destination folders and remove Total System Care registries, open the Windows Registry Editor and delete the affected registries from there. Below is a detailed guide on what you should do:

  1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Into the text field, input regedit and hit OK.
  3. Once the Registry Editor opens, navigate to the Run and Run Once The folder destinations are shown above.
  4. Remove any value related to Total System Care.
