Most computers are built for the purpose of multitasking. However, these days, people are heading down the road, looking for better and more reliable options. It’s no surprise why Asus decided to release the new Asus ZenBook Pro 15.
The Asus ZenBook Pro 15 is made powerful by one interesting feature: the 5.5” Full HD ScreenPad. It’s an inventive technology that hides as a touchpad and helps you become more productive by letting you do a lot of things all at once.
Zenbook Pro 15 Features
They say the ZenBook Pro 15 gives us a glimpse of the future, but there’s no guarantee what path it could take us on. What we are saying is that it has features that can be an advantage and a disadvantage at the same time. Below are a few ZenBook Pro 15 features to look forward to:
The beauty of the Asus ZenBook Pro 15 lies in the eyes of the owner. As a typical Asus product, the ZenBook Pro 15 has an aluminum build, which is common across Asus products. What sets it apart from the rest is the golden metal strip that runs through the sides. According to reports, the company calls it the “Rose Gold Diamond-Cut Chamfered Edge”.
The Asus ZenBook 15-inch model may not be the slimmest, but it manages to bring many amazing features on board, such as the 2 Type-A USB 3.1 Gen 1, 2 Type-C USB 3.1 Gen 2, a microSD card reader, and an HDM.
It also has a fairly comfortable keyboard that has well-spaced backlit keys. There’s also ample space on the opposite side of the ScreenPad, where you can rest your palm as you type.
Be careful, though. The ScreenPad is a bit bigger than the average touchpads of laptops. So, chances are, you might find your hands frequently brushing against the sides of your screen, which usually results in unexpected movements in the cursor and some random clicks. We’ll explain the ScreenPad feature further below.
The design features of the ZenBook Pro 15 sure look impressive as they give us a level of simplicity and “premium-ness” in one. But what about its display?
Considering the contrast, brightness, and colors of the ZenBook Pro 15, the device is actually stunning. The first thing you’ll notice on its display are the two bezels on each side. They call it “Nano Edge”.
It also has a 15.6” 4K UHD screen that can showcase ultra-crisp and well-balanced content. Not to mention it has 400 nits of brightness and a 1200:1 contrast ratio that is unique for a laptop. With these display features, you can surely sit under the sun and work without stressing your eyes.
If we talk about viewing angles, this laptop won’t disappoint. Asus claims that this new model can sport a wide-angle view that ranges up to 178 degrees.
Now, if you are not happy with your default display settings, you can customize them to your liking. You can adjust the color temperature settings or manage the color gamut.
Performance-wise, we can safely assume that the ZenBook Pro 15 can be classified as an absolute powerhouse. Not only does it boast a powerful computing processor, it also has reliable GPUs and enough memory to complement them.
Of course, this device won’t be called “premium” if it did not have the best storage, CPUs, and GPUs. It’s powered by an Intel Core i9-8950HK processor, which is relatively new. It also uses a 16GB DDR4 RAM and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti with a 4GB dedicated memory, which are truly great for a laptop.
When all these things work in tandem, they are able to handle the heaviest loads, be it animation or rendering tasks. And even if the laptop is not designed for gamers, it can still play a few heavy titles at max settings.
The only major drawback of this device when it comes to performance is the fact that it easily gets heated up around the keyboard area when used heavily. Regardless if you are playing videos or games or even when you are charging, you can feel it getting warm. Don’t worry because Asus embedded a dual fan system to beat the heat that is coming from the Nvidia and Intel processors.
Next, let us discuss the brand new, innovative ScreenPad.
If we talk about innovation, Asus is on top of the game. And you can tell it right away as soon as you see the ZenBook Pro 15, thanks to its new ScreenPad feature.
The ScreenPad isn’t there to work as a touchpad. It is actually a second screen that can be used to open apps, play music, and watch videos. So, if you want to watch your favorite series on Netflix, the ScreenPad can make it easier.
In addition to playing music and videos, the ScreenPad is also a productive tool. Once you boot up a new device, it will show you some introductory contents, showing and explaining all handy features. It also has a dedicated launcher, which you can easily access by swiping down the tiny bar on top of the display.
To customize the features of the ScreenPad, Asus worked with Microsoft Office. Hence, when you open an Excel, PowerPoint, or Word file, you can access shortcuts to save the file or make changes in the document’s format.
If all these ScreenPad features weren’t enough, it also gets you around a plethora of finger gestures you can use to access content conveniently.
For a laptop that is so powerful, how much battery life does it have?
Obviously, the ZenBook Pro 15 is one of the most powerful devices on the market now. However, it’s not as perfect as what we expected it to be, especially if we consider its battery performance.
In some tests that included minimal video streaming and browsing, the device’s battery life managed to stretch up to 6 hours. When used to work on editing tasks, it only lasted 4 to 5 hours.
Well, it’s quite understandable because given such great features, it will definitely need a lot of power to run.
This laptop is undoubtedly a beast when it comes to features and specifications, but if we focus on its most-talked-about feature – the ScreenPad, there’s still a lot that needs to be worked out. Hopefully, Asus will continue to build and improve it because it’s really something. In the meantime, if you have a ZenBook Pro 15 with you, just install Outbyte PC Repair.
