Solution #1: Launch the MS Store Troubleshooter

Before you attempt to fix using any other alien tools, first check if your Windows build is equipped enough to automatically fix the issue. Windows 10/11 comes equipped with MS Store troubleshooter. The tool is designed to scan the Store application for any inconsistencies, then repair them.

Here is how you can run MS Store troubleshooter to fix Windows 10/11 Store Error 0x803FB005:

  1. Launch the Run dialog box by simultaneously pressing Windows + R keys. In the text field, type “ms-settings:troubleshooter” (no quotes) before hitting the Enter key to launch Troubleshooting tab under the Settings window.
  2. Now, on the right-hand pane, click on Windows Store Apps under the Get up and Running tab before selecting Run the Troubleshooter.
  3. Wait for the initial scan process to complete.
  4. When done, if an issue was found, a repair strategy is automatically picked and suggested. Click on Apply this Fix and follow the prompts.
  5. Once done, close the troubleshooter window and reboot your system for the changes to take effect.

  3. Install all picked updates. If system reboot occurs, make sure you return to the same window by following Steps 1 and 2.
  4. Once all the pending updates have been installed, restart the computer and check if the issue has been resolved in the next startup.

Solution #3: Disable Third-Party Anti-virus

A strict security suite tends to block outside connections that Microsoft uses when downloading an application. To solve the issue if related to this cause, you must disable your third-party security suite. Depending on the suite you have installed in your system, the steps to removing it may slightly differ. However, with the guidelines, you can easily uninstall any of them.

Here is how you can uninstall a program:

  1. Right-click on the Start menu and select Apps & Features from the context menu.
  2. Once the Apps & features tab has opened under the Settings window, scroll down the list of apps installed on your system until you see the third-party security suite you wish to uninstall.
  3. Click to highlight any app related to the suite and select the Uninstall button.
  4. Follow the prompts to complete the Uninstallation process to all apps and features related to the security suite.

Solution #4: Reset MS Store

If a file used by MS Store goes missing due to a virus or is quarantined by a third-party security tool, the Windows 10/11 Store Error 0x803FB005 is bound to occur. Resetting all MS Store components will help restore all files to their original state. Here is how you can reset MS Store components:

  1. Launch the Run dialog by simultaneously pressing the Windows + R keys. In the text field, type “cmd” (no quotes) and simultaneously press Ctrl + Shift + Enter keys to launch elevated Command Prompt. If the User Account Controls prompts, select the Yes button to give admin privileges.
  2. Now, in the elevated Command Prompt, insert the command line below and hit the Enter key:
    WSRESET.EXE
  3. Once the command has been processed, reboot the machine and check if the issue has been solved in the next startup.

Solution #5: Perform a Repair Installation

If none of the listed solutions come right, then, you might be dealing with a server system corruption. In such instances, the best you can do is perform a repair installation. This action resets all Windows OS components to factory formats without deleting your files.

Here is how to perform a repair installation:

  1. Download the official Windows 10/11 ISO file from the MS site. It is also possible to download Windows 10/11 without a media creation tool.
  2. Save the file to your Desktop.
  3. Mount the ISO to access its files.
  4. Double-click on the mounted ISO to access files and locate the one labelled setup.exe. Double-click on it and follow the prompts to perform a repair installation.
