Causes and Symptoms of Error Code 0x80020022

Mac error code 0x80020022 can stem from a number of different reasons. Some emerge from issues with the Mac itself or with a specific compuer application. Others arise because of problems with the DVD media or CD burning, as well as an old version player.

The symptoms of this Mac error can be wide-ranging, too. The primary one is an error that automatically pops up whenever you try to burn a disc. You also find all active programs suddenly closing, and the installation of certain programs or software wouldn’t reach 100 percent. Your Mac, too, gets slow response to keyword, mouse, along with external input.

Fix Mac Error 0x80020022 with These Tips

Unfortunately it isn’t simple to address this error on your Mac. While you can create disk permissions and clean-install your system several times, there is no guarantee that these steps absolutely work.

For starters, you can try to restart your computer and see if that fixes the issue. Sometimes an ordinary corruption can occur and lead to the error, which you can repair by simply restarting your Mac. If a restart doesn’t seem to work, you opt to repair disk permissions via the Disk Utility, which can be found in Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.

Accumulated junk files can impact system stability. A tool like Outbyte macAries can help in cleaning up your machine, but make sure it aligns with your specific needs.

Another step you can take is to install and then reinstall your multimedia player. Sometimes this does the trick since this error relates to a disc burning issue. Here are the steps:

  1. Start your computer.
  2. Open your DVD driver and insert a blank DVD.
  3. Open your blank DVD as well as a multimedia player.
  4. Go to the disc burning option. See if the error crops up.
  5. Close the program and take out the blank DVD.
  6. Return to the multimedia player involved with the error message. Right-click on it to uninstall.
  7. Search for the latest version of the program and download it. Follow the instructions to properly install it.

Here are more tips to consider:

  • Use Only Good DVD Discs. Some users advise against using DVD+RW, which according to them doesn’t work at all.
  • Avoid Writing at Maximum Speed. Certain users recommend going at half of that max speed, and ensuring that your hard drive isn’t going into sleep mode.
  • Uninstall and Then Reinstall Your Burner. See if this move solves the issue. If it doesn’t then perhaps it’s worth thinking: is it time to get a new external DVD writer?
